If you have a Facebook Page, and you want to grow it organically, then by now you must be aware of the power of Facebook Groups
As a social media platform, I find Facebook to behave dynamically different than Instagram or LinkedIN. Facebook is the pioneer in the world of social media and all other platforms came later
Let’s go Deep!!
This is probably one of the reasons way to grow Facebook is different than you would do for other platforms. When i was researching on a particular topic, i was surprised to find how little information is present on the internet about Facebook Groups and how they are so undervalued when they can be of immense value.
So here I share out some ways to utilise your Facebook Groups to maximum and get the most out of it.
Let’s start!!!
Mistake 1: Avoiding reading the rules before posting
Every Facebook Group has a list of rules which they publish in the ABOUT section or pin it up on cards in the group. More likely if you go against the rules, while publishing your post, your post will not be published, or rejected by the admin. In other cases, they may even ban you from the group.
So if you want to grow on Facebook, it is important to abide all the rules mentioned by them. You wouldn’t want to be kicked out of a group of potential leads!
Some examples of Rules could be:
- To be kind and courteous
- Not to SPAM!!
Mistake 2: Not looking out for Private and Public Groups
While this doesn’t hold much importance of you are posting from your Facebook page on these groups, but matters more when you are posting from your profile to the respective group.
The reason for this is that the posts you share on a Public Group from your profile are visible to all your friends on your profile while the posts on the Private Group are not visible.
So if you are a private person who doesnt like to hoot their own horns especially among friends and family ( from your personal FB profile) then avoid joining Public Groups at all costs. However if it doesn’t matter to you, you can join and post as much.
Mistake 3: Wrong way of promotion!
If you are just posting about your services, you are not utilizing Facebook’s Group Feature to the max. Only posting about your services won’t do the trick as it shouts ” Look at me. Look at me. ” People who want to buy from you want post to shout “Look at You. Look at You” for them. So you see the difference?
What else can you post?
Post questions, post content to invite engagement and post a bit of BTS if it is relevant. But be genuine about it. Posting for the sake of posting never gives the best results.
Mistake 4: Not engaging enough!!!
Groups are a hidden pot gold full of leads. However, tapping them correctly is very important. One of the way, you can do that is by leaving genuine comments on posts which interest you and liking the posts which connect with you.
Mindless liking and commenting on anyone’s post is treated as SPAM by Facebook so be careful not to go in that direction. Also genuine comments will involve the interest of the person who posted the content.
Genuine commenting and liking will also help other members of the group be more aware of your presence. At this point they can:
- Reach out to you in DMs for a chat (could be about the topic you commented on, or be interested in your services right away). Great for lead generation if you ask me!
- Check and like your Facebook Page (if you are engaging from there).
- Or simply visit your website if you have given them enough reason through your comment.
Note that all the above steps have a good potential of landing you sales which was the forst reason you started using groups.
Mistake 5: Not engaging with other Pages in your Group.
This is a simple one but I am surprised at how often this is overlooked. If you are engaging with members in your groups then that is great but it is only the first step.
A great first step would be to connect with other pages in your niche and build loyalty by commenting/likes etc. But keep it genuine -false engagement or the engagement for the sake of it can be seen from far off.
One good idea would be to create a list of all the pages you regularly want to interact with – this is easily shown on the left hand on the pages you have followed/liked. Keep revisiting them every few days and seeing what’s their new post.
Facebook Groups can be a very powerful tool if utilised correctly. By avoiding the above mistakes you are already on the right path to get successful, just be consistent and keep trying new things.
